MPP Updates 9/20/09! MPP Updates 9/20/09! When the site was attacked last year I lost some of my news posts and planned to re-post that information as quickly as possible. Real life has kept me from revisiting this until now. Update: The links on this page might not work from your email client. They didn't work for me and a few others. Please visit the website ( http://mircpowerpack.net/ ) to download the files listed below. Update: I have added most users to the automatic notifications for MPP News events. If you do not want to receive email messages: MPP Website -> Settings -> Personal Info. Uncheck "News (All)" if you never want news updates emailed to you. Also uncheck "News (Main)" if you never want brand new news items emailed to you. MPP 20090920 (Automatic) This package includes updated MCC.EXE, MCC.INI and MPP.INI all of which reside in your mpp\system\mpp folder. The INI updates help MPP realize that the best version of mIRC is now 6.35. The original version of MPP Control Center (MCC.EXE) was timestamped "2/29/08 12:20 AM". The new EXE is timestamped "1/7/09 4:53 PM". This update fixed some issues with NickServ or AuthServ on some IRC servers. MPP 20090920 download: mpp-20090920.exe Automatic instructions for an existing MPP installation: Close MPP and mIRC. Download this file and save it (or move it) to your main MPP folder. Once it is in this folder double click the EXE and select "overwrite all". Manual instructions for an existing MPP installation: Download the EXE (above) to your Desktop and then double click it to run it. Files will be extracted to a new folder named "system". Inside the desktop\system\mpp folder, copy all files to your program files\mpp\system\mpp folder. Instructions for a "clean" MPP installation: If you do a clean install of MPP and skip the automatic "Start MPP after installation" step... you can run this patch to upgrade MPP so that on it's first run it will ask for mIRC 6.35 instead of mIRC 6.31 (which was the default version of mIRC for MPP RC13). MPP Control Center (MCC) Update (Manual) If you only want to get the updated MCC.EXE you can download the ZIP file (below). The original version of MPP Control Center (MCC.EXE) was timestamped "2/29/08 12:20 AM". The new EXE is timestamped "1/7/09 4:53 PM". This update fixed some issues with NickServ or AuthServ on some IRC servers. MCC 20090107 download: mcc-20090107.zip Instructions: MCC.EXE inside this ZIP file needs to be extracted to your mpp\system\mpp folder (overwrite the old EXE). MPP FiSH The updated version of MPP FiSH (encryption for mIRC 6.35) is now available! MPP FiSH for mIRC 6.35 download: mpp-fish.exe Note: This EXE is different than the EXE on the MPP FiSH page. Please visit the MPP FiSH page for instructions on installation and usage. MPP Is A Virus! False alarms piss me off! One user reported yesterday that at least one of the DLL's for the MSN plugin inside MPP is triggering an alarm on his scanner. It could be any of these files: C:\Program Files (x86)\mIRC Power Pack\system\msnmirc\dll\*.dll (mdx.dll, MPopup.dll, ssl.dll, blah.dll, nHTMLn.dll). If you get a false positive alarm for a file in the MPP folder, please email your report to sgt-d@sodpit.com - but please DO NOT submit a report IF you use the MPP Subsystem (described a little farther down the page). I only use Clamwin AntiVirus. My Clamwin is current (0.95.2) and using the latest database (main: 51, daily: 9816) and a CLEAN installation of MPP (withOUT the MPP Subsystem) results in ZERO infected files: ![]() The MPP Subsystem was an honest attempt to remove most of the files that triggered "false positives" for most virus scanners out there in the wild. The idea was to deliberately NOT include any "suspicious" files that normally trigger alarms inside the main MPP installers. The MPP Subsystem includes all of these files and can be installed separately. YOU DO NOT NEED THESE FILES. In most cases MPP is almost 100% functional for normal use without these files. IF you decide to install it, you will most likely start seeing "false positives" for some files like I did: ![]() Again, your decision to install the MPP Subsytem might trigger alarms. If you don't want to take any chances, don't install it. I will also mention again that although many files have been reported over the years there have been ZERO reports of any problems/attacks/trojans that ever actually worked because of MPP. In other words, I use the MPP Subsystem as do tons of other people without any issues at all. In Closing I hope this update helps. I will be starting new development on MPP in the near future. I'm waitning for Windows 7 release so I can rebuild my new computer on the newest OS possible and setup my devolopment environment for the five hundredth time. Sorry for the delays! I'm still here!!! /sgt
mIRC Power Pack Mobile! mIRC Power Pack ( http://mircpowerpack.net/ ) can now be accessed with your mobile device! Everything seems functional so far, although I haven't tried to post anything in the forums. I did try to edit a custom page (an admin function), but that didn't work. Anyway, leave comments about your results... I'm curious. You can adjust what emails you get from this site under Settings -> Personal Info. If you want to delete your account, try THIS.
Is this thing on? It's been awhile. Anyway, I spent most of the day today trying to revive this site. I will get the real news going again soon, along with the updated EXE's for MPP. Today I reloaded the old MPP site contact list, so if you were a valid member before you should be able to login again. Everyone should receive this news item in an email when I save it to the site. This is a new setting. You can login to the site and then click the "Settings" link to opt in or opt out of any of these notifications. Currently everyone was added to the "News (Main Only)" group - which only receives new news that I post myself. If you want email notices about all news changes, including news submitted by other users, check the "News (All)" group. You can now include additional information about yourself, including any instant messengers you might be using. The site is no longer locked, anyone can view it. You no longer have to type a number code to sign in to the site. This code is now only required during new user registrations or if you forgot your password. Site themes are working again! The new default site them is "dAb_08" which is a little dark, but I think it looks nice. Themes that broke the site are now disabled. I added 20 new themes, so take a few minutes to check them out. More than 50% of the themes use only one sidebar, so if you want to use the Chatbox you have to stick with a theme that uses both sidebars - at least for now. The selector is near the bottom of the left side. Downloads for guests are limited to 1 per day again. Members are unlimited. If you still use MPP and you get this email, shoot me a message and tell me how you are doing! Thanks! /sgt

All Sounds are working fine now, I'm having some troubles with the acronym tool. it doesn't work if you use any other text with them works fine as long as you don't type any other text with the acronym :-/

@sgt-d: It helped a little, I'm running windows xp on 1gb of RAM, but right clicking make mIRC unresponsive.

@josh: yeah, i think it's related to bytecam. try unloading bytecam if you don't use it and let me know if that helps.
